Many times you have various objects on a PowerPoint 2010/2007 slide and they will be named oval4, rectangle6 etc and this is difficult and confusing to edit and change. But by going to the Format tab and clicking on Selection pane you can see the objects and better yet rename them to useful and clear names (such as North Sales, South Sales, Toms Arrow). This is especially useful when you are setting up an animation.
